On Sunday, State of the Union with Jake Tapper celebrated 5 years on the air with its present anchor. Prior to Tapper taking over SOTU, it was anchored first by CNN’s John King, and then later Candy Crowley, who eventually retired from the network.
“We not a big broadcast network. We don’t have the staff that the [broadcast Sunday shows] do, but we think that because of our questions and our guests and our format, we are able to make news and evoke answers that make a difference,” Tapper said in an interview with Variety.
Tapper said, “I’m really proud of how we punch above our weight each week.”
