After coronavirus hiatus, Early Start returns to air

Monday morning, Early Start with Christine Romans and Laura Jarrett returned to air after a very long, coronavirus-motivated hiatus. CNN wanted to keep the show off the air and simulcast CNN International to limit the amount of staff needed to run the shows needing to report to work.

“So good to see you,” Jarrett effused. “It’s 5am here in New York. We want to thank our team in the control room and beyond, working so hard to get this show on air; we appreciate it today and every day. We missed you.”

It is worth noting, however, that instead of airing for two hours as Early Start has come to do during the Trump era, it only aired during the 5am hour, with the 4am hour being CNNI’s Newsroom.

  1. Extremely happy to see Early Start is back! It really, really needs to go back to the original 2 hour time slot to replace CNNI’s Newsroom!

  2. CNN Newsroom actually does news stories not one droning monologue, the US viewers might actually learn something about the world watching CNNi and hearing presenters like Rosemary Church or Robyn Kurnow and find out there is a world outside the US of A.
