The President renewed his criticism of CNN anchor Don Lemon this morning following his performance moderating CNN’s July 30 debate in Detroit, Michigan. During the debate, one of the questions Lemon posed was, “What do you say to those Trump voters who prioritize the economy over the president’s bigotry?”
That was, no doubt, one of the questions President Trump didn’t like. On Twitter, the president said, “CNN’s Don Lemon, the dumbest man on television, insinuated last night while asking a debate ‘question’ that I was a racist, when in fact I am ‘the least racist person in the world.’ Perhaps someone should explain to Don that he is supposed to be neutral, unbiased & fair,…..or is he too dumb (stupid} to understand that. No wonder CNN’s ratings (MSNBC’s also) have gone down the tubes – and will stay there until they bring credibility back to the newsroom. Don’t hold your breath!”
Lemon returns tonight to moderate the debate with the other half of the ten candidates alongside Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
In 2017, Trump alleged he “never” watches Lemon, and called him “the dumbest man on television.”
Earlier this year, Lemon revealed the negativity he had been receiving from the president’s supporters was taking a toll on his life and he wasn’t sure how mcuh longer he could continue doing CNN Tonight. The anchor quickly modified his remarks, adding, “I’m not going anywhere. I love being here ever single night.”
