After declining a presidential run, Mitch Landrieu joins CNN

Former New Orleans mayor and ex-lieutenant governor of Louisiana Mitch Landrieu recently decided he was not going to be one of the Democrats running for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. Today, Landrieu has announced he has joined CNN as a political commentator — and just in time for CNN’s Democratic debates, airing tonight and tomorrow in Detroit.

“Great to be here,” the new commentator said on air. ‘The most important thing is to find someone who will beat President Trump, right? At the end of the day that should be everybody’s focus,” Landrieu observed.

When NOLA asked CNN for comment on the former mayor’s hire, no response was provided.
