CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker announced some surprise news in this morning’s meeting, according to CNN’s own media reporter, Brian Stelter. As Stelter revealed on Twitter, “He will be taking a six week leave for elective surgery to address a heart condition he has had for 10 years.”
Stelter added, “He assured everyone he is going to be just fine. All of us are wishing him a very speedy recovery.”
Zucker’s man, Michael Bass, executive vice president of programming and a longtime lieutenant of his (they previously worked together on Katie Couric’s program and at NBC Universal) will reportedly oversee editorial matters in his absence.
