CNN international correspondent Will Ripley, who is currently based out of the network’s Tokyo bureau, will be relocating to the Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.
The network just recently moved into new offices in Hong Kong and unveiled a new studio (used for Kristie Lu Stout’s NewsStream).
Since 2014, Ripley has traveled and reported from North Korea a total of 17 times — which is more than any other American reporter.
CNN Hong Kong houses the network’s newsgathering, programming, feature reporting and digital teams for the Asia-Pacific region.
Deborah Rayner, senior vice president of international newsgathering at CNN, said of Ripley’s new assignment, “This move will put him at the very center of our Asia Pacific operations, which is a really vibrant area for us.”
