CNN Turk evening news anchor Nevşin Mengü has resigned from the network after being sidelined for her critical stance of the ruling Justice and Development Party government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reports the Turkish Minute.
On May 22, Mengü was taken off the air by CNN Türk management after remarks she made about Erdoğan’s meeting with President Trump in Washington. She was subsequently relieved of her anchoring duties but remained with CNN Turk.
When she decided to leave the network altogether, she tweeted, “We part ways with love. This happens sometimes. I hope the best.”
