Working hard to earn his reported $2.5 million salary, Chris Cuomo was tasked with hosting Inside on HLN, in addition to his day job as the morning anchor of CNN’s New Day. The six-episode investigative series was produced in-house and slated to air Friday nights at 9pm.
For its debut, it is off to a slightly rough start, bringing down the network’s ratings, when averaging the past four Fridays for that time slot. For the past month, HLN has averaged 61,000 demo viewers in the key demographic in that time slot, and 216,000 total viewers.
In the key demographic that advertisers are concerned with, Cuomo’s Inside attracted 59,000 demo viewers, a drop-off of two thousand viewers from the average. The show that aired prior at 8pm, Hill Harper’s How It Really Happened, had 61,000 viewers.
The week before, How It Really Happened aired at 8pm and 9pm, having 62,000 and 69,000 demo viewers, respectively.
So if HLN was hoping to cash in on the “star power” associated with the Cuomo brand, it hasn’t paid off — yet…
5 episodes remain.
