CNN’s senior morning producer Matt Null died on Monday while on vacation over seas, as flagged by TVNewser.
For the past three years, Early Start anchor Christine Romans noted when bringing the sad news to her viewers, he had been leading the team. She called him a “rising star” at CNN.
“It is with a heavy heart that we report tragic news of one of our own this morning,” Romans began her report.
She called him “hard-working,” “dedicated,” and noted he had been making his way up the producing ranks at various local networks before joining CNN.
“He is literally the voice in our head every morning when terrible things happen around the world, he is the one who brings it to you with calm and fairness… he is someone who really made a difference in the world through his job.” She paused. “He was 34 years old.”
