In a jaw-dropping report from the New York Post, we are given more details on the attempted robbery and subsequent gunfight between former Headline News anchor Lynne Russell and her husband, Chuck de Caro.
The 911 operator attempted to encourage the motel clerk to focus on the emergency and lock the door, but the clerk responded, “Um … Well, I’ve got people in my lobby right now.”
When he put her on hold to check in more guests, the clerk insisted, “I kinda want nobody else to get shot.”
“Listening to the [call] chills me to the bone,” former CNN anchor Russell told the Post.
The clerk was “so unconcerned,” she said, “with two people bleeding out just feet away from the office, that he actually wants to put 911 on hold so he can check in more victims.”
“But what do I know, my husband and I were almost murdered there.”
