Over the weekend, the New York Post reported, citing tipsters familiar with CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker’s thinking, that Zucker was considering leaving his job as the network’s news president and considering a run for mayor of New York City, which goes along with what Zucker said in December about being willing to consider a run for political office.
The Post reports that Zucker has been reaching out to advisors of New York governor Mario Cuomo (brother to Zucker’s morning anchor, Chris Cuomo…) to see if a NYC mayoral run “might be feasible.”
Zucker, for his part, adamantly denied the suggestion he’s exploring a mayoral run to the Post. “It is 10 times 100 percent not true.”
Yet someone told the Post, “Politics is something [Zucker] thinks about.”
