CNN first in the demo for Super Tuesday #3

Just like Super Tuesday #1 and Super Tuesday #2, last night’s Super Tuesday put CNN in first place in the 25-54 key demographic.

As the network touts, CNN continues to be the place where Americans watch election returns, with the network ranking #1 among adults 25-54 and 18-34 during last night’s Super Tuesday 3 coverage. In primetime (8-11pm), CNN was top-rated among adults 25-54 with 1.587 million, Fox News followed with 1.334 million and MSNBC once again lagged far behind with 607k. This represents the second largest cable news primary/caucuses night on record (just behind 2016 Super Tuesday #1). Among younger viewers (18-34), CNN was top-rated by wide margins with 565k, Fox News had 301k and MSNBC trailed with 145k. In total viewers, CNN had 4.316 million, +106% more than MSNBC’s 2.096 million; Fox News had 5.006 million.

During the live coverage block (7pm – 2am) CNN was also #1, averaging 1.172 million to Fox News’ 952k and to MSNBC’s 469k among adults 25-54. CNN’s 1.172 million demo delivery is the highest 25-54 performance so far this election cycle in cable news. In younger viewers (18–34), CNN outperformed the competition during the block with 397k to Fox News’ 210k and to MSNBC’s 103k. In total viewers, CNN bested MSNBC (3.172 million vs. MSNBC’s 1.592 million); Fox News had 3.475 million during this time period.
