New Day co-anchor Michaela Pereira is leaving the CNN morning show and the New York bureau altogether at the end of April.
She will be fronting a new three-hour long HLN show, reports the Los Angeles Times. CNN Executive Vice President Ken Jautz told the Times the format will be similar in style and tone to HLN’s current morning show, Morning Express With Robin Meade.
“It’s time for me to go home and be close to my family and my community and my loved ones. I’m excited about going back and getting to do what I love, which is a morning news show.”
Pereira’s new show, that doesn’t currently have a title or launch date, will originally from the network’s Hollywood studios.
That is a statement and a half “going back to my love ones to do what I love” sounds very down on New Day nothing remotely sad in that statement about leaving
Sure, but this is a great opportunity for her that she wouldn’t have gotten in New York. Michaela wasn’t exactly a prized possession on New Day
CNN may have been waiting out a non-compete contract based on her KTLA work prior to the CNN hire. That would explain the initial trip to NY.
