CNN’s town hall last night, hosted by Anderson Cooper and featuring Senator Bernie Sanders and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, led in total viewers and the key news demographic.
It ranked #1 in cable news last night, topping Fox News and MSNBC in total viewers, adults 25-54, and adults 18-34. The Town Hall averaged 2.717 million total viewers. Fox News followed with 2.331 million and MSNBC trailed with 984k. Among adults 25-54, CNN (871k) outperformed the combined delivery of Fox News (486k) and MSNBC (243k). Among adults 18-34, CNN (391k) also outperformed the combined delivery of Fox News (104k) and MSNBC (41k).
The post-program, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon (11p-1a) also ranked #1 in the demo last night, averaging 364k, Fox News had 327k and MSNBC lagged with 141k. CNN won overall primetime (8-11pm) with 694k, +34% more than Fox News’ 519k and a +215% lead over MSNBC’s 220k.
CNN’s town hall last week, hosted by Chris Cuomo, attracted 3.2 million viewers and set a record as the most-watched forum in cable history.
