When Franca Leosini, a well-respected media personality in Italy, attempted to purchase a 40-second clip from CNN of Amanda Knox, she was rebuffed. The network declined to sell their video for use in an Italian TV show, Cursed Stories; the clip was desired, as the Examiner reports, for their upcoming interview with Rudy Guede, the third suspect in the murder of Meredith Kercher.
Leosini said, “I have a pro-American position and I have nothing against America, but it is a fact that we can not prosecute their citizens. To give you an example, and it is something that happened yesterday, for this installment we asked CNN to buy 40 seconds of footage of Amanda Knox, in defense of which at the time of the trial were formed committees on committees, and the response was ‘No.’ An amazing thing, which is extremely serious, a real censorship.”
