Appearing this morning on CNN’s New Day, CNN political commentator Bob Beckel — who joined CNN two weeks ago — spoke with fellow former Fox News anchor, Alisyn Camerota, while promoting his new book.
Camerota read Fox’s statement about his departure: “We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn’t hold The Five hostage to one man’s personal issues. He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him.”
“I really don’t know [what they were talking about],” Beckel said. “We signed a separation agreement that we weren’t going to say anything negative. Apparently, one of their executives didn’t get the memo.”
He added of Fox News’ CEO and former GOP strategist, “[Roger] Ailes saved me a long time ago — and I never have a negative word to say about him.”
In a statement to Mediaite, Fox News denies that they violated any agreement with Beckel.
