CNN Philippines, which launched launched in early March, has made the decision to cut back on its work force to improve their financials. 30 of the jobs cut were junior employees and 40 were contractual workers who were involved with the network’s programming and operations, according to a report in the Philippine Inquirer.
CNN Philippines director Benjamin Ramos said of the cuts, “We developed some programs when we started and we hired too many people. So we’re making adjustments.” He went on to say, “We started with 600 employees, now, we are making adjustments, improving news programs, and improving our financials.”
Ramos added, “We want a chance for this industry to have something different from what other players are doing.”
