Coop embraces synergy and his inner pop culture for Billy on the Street trailer

Anderson Cooper, who handles everything from today’s papal coverage to moderating the Democratic debate to being Madonna’s bitch, taped a trailer to promote corporate cousin truTV’s Billy on the Street.

Pretending to be anchoring the news, Cooper said, “Sources say he’s running up to people and forcing them to discuss his opinions on pop culture, sometimes with a celebrity by his side,” he says before Billy Eichner interrupts him.

And then, Eichner scolds Cooper, “Look at you, delivering hard news — do you think Walter Cronkite would have spent New Year’s Eve with Kathy Griffin?”

Which is rather ironic — because, probably, Cronkite wouldn’t have done most of what Cooper does.
