No cable subscription? No problem, says CNN.
The GOP debate on September 16, which just yesterday was moved to 8pm, will be available for streaming absolutely for free, as reported by Mashable. CNN streams everything via CNNgo, but you do need a cable package to access it. But with this debate, you don’t.
Fox News streamed their debate, but with a cable package requirement.
Andrew Morse told Mashable, “We are offering this as a preview. To me, there’s a longer play here, which is that we want our audiences to know this is a service they can get from CNN going forward. We want to build that user behavior.”
The stream will be available for free on CNN.com.
Morse said he isn’t worried about losing viewers to the stream. “I think if you have a TV and you’re sitting in front of a TV and you have a cable subscription, you’re going to watch the debate on TV. If you don’t happen to be sitting in front of the TV, it’s historic moment that we think people are going to seek out.”
