Poorly worded Gawker story causes people to wrongly mock CNN

Gawker reported that Cecil the Lion’s brother, Jericho, “who is also a lion,” had been killed, citing a CNN report. Many on Twitter used this Gawker blog post to scoff at CNN for pointing out that Jericho “is also a lion” — when CNN didn’t actually use those words at all.

It was Gawker writer Brendan O’Connor.

But that didn’t stop the CNN mockery:

(For the record… It seems Jericho isn’t actually dead after all, and is in fact, alive.)

  1. Though poor reporting had Jericho falsely dead, Mark Twain, who is not also a lion, is quite dead.

  2. We would like to point out that the dinosaur Wolf Blitzer, who is not a lion, is not dead either.
