Former New York Times reporter Bill Carter has joined CNN as an on-air contributor, it was announced this morning on CNN’s New Day. He will comment on the media for the network.

CNN today announced that Bill Carter, the former New York Times television reporter and author, is joining the network as a contributor. Carter will offer reporting, analysis and commentary on the top media stories across CNN’s television and digital platforms, reuniting with former New York Times beat colleague Brian Stelter.
A widely respected veteran of the beat, Carter was with the New York Times for more than 25 years as a media writer, covering the television industry. He is also the author of four books, including The Late Shift, Desperate Networks, and The War for Late Night. Prior to joining the Times in 1989, Carter was the television critic for the Baltimore Sun for 14 years.
Carter has appeared many times on CNN; his first official appearance as a CNN contributor was on New Day this morning and on Sunday, he will be on Reliable Sources with Brian Stelter at 11amET/PT.
