Fredricka Whitfield’s gaffe: Gunman’s actions “courageous and brave”

During a segment with legal analyst Philip Holloway, Fredricka Whitfield made a remark she is surely regretting when she said, “It was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters, and now you have this scene, this standoff. So you believe these are the hallmarks of more than one person’s involvement.”

Whitfield is referring to when a gunman opened fire on a police HQ in Dallas, Texas, and was in a standoff with police officers.

The Twitter account for the Fort Worth, Texas, police officers’ association tweeted out a strong condemnation of Whitfield:

  1. This is what happens when you spend all of your time talking about one story. CNN has a bad habit as do the other cable news outlets, hammering a story into the ground 24/7 until there are only shreds left and then the stupid starts. Fredricka was the latest anchor to make an unfortunate comment. Add to the hours of rambling on about one incident, anchors who know how to read the news feed but have proven time and again they lack the ability to actually think and talk at the same time, wind up making insulting and highly prejudicial comments. We have seen it with Brook Baldwin and others as well. It would be better if the facts were put out for the viewers and then move on to the next story until more facts are available. It would make the news more viable and of course keep viewers up to date on what is happening in the rest of the world because there are after all more stories to be told. This type of hammering is lazy reporting and I for one am pretty tired of it. If I hear the same facts more than once it’s time to change the channel. I am quite tolerant most of the time, but must admit I am ready to ban CNN as I have MSNBC because of their seriously boring and biased reporting. FOX is getting close to hitting my last nerve as well with some of the questionable comments and hosts. I can’t even watch the nightly news anymore because of fabricated stories. I would really like to know what has happened to the ethics of journalism, and who hijacked that field and turned it into a PC biased circus?

  2. When you spend all your time pining about cops killing unarmed black brethren it must have seemed a bit heroic to go after them. At least she didn’t call the police “pigs”.
