A Robin-less Morning Express still beats New Day

HLN anchor Robin Meade was off of Morning Express Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of last week, and Jennifer Westhoven anchored the program from 6am-8am and Mike Galanos anchored from 8am-12n. And, even without Robin to steer the ship… Morning Express sailed right by CNN’s New Day in the demo without any problems.

On Friday, April 3: New Day had 117,000 demo viewers, and Morning Express had 130,000 demo viewers. (For total viewers, New Day had 338,000 viewers, and Morning Express had 303,000 viewers).

For whatever reason, ratings for April 2 are not yet available.

On Wednesday, April 1: New Day had only 75,000 demo viewers, and Morning Express more than doubled them with 154,000 demo viewers. (For total viewers, New Day had 311,000 viewers, and Morning Express had 301,000 viewers).

For comparison purposes, the two days before Robin’s vacation…

On Monday, March 30, New Day had 107,000 demo viewers, and Morning Express had 125,000 demo viewers. (For total viewers, New Day had 295,000 viewers, and Morning Express had 283,000 viewers).

On Tuesday, March 31, New Day had 152,000 demo viewers, whereas Morning Express had 115,000 demo viewers. (For total viewers, New Day had 359,000 viewers, and Morning Express had 288,000 viewers).

So… Clearly the Morning Express formula works, and the New Day formula… not so much.
