CNNI’s Abu Dhabi-based correspondent and anchor of Connect the World Becky Anderson has been promoted, following the departure of bureau chief Phil O’Sullivan.
In an email obtained by CNN Commentary, CNNI chief Tony Maddox said, “We are delighted to announce that Becky Anderson will become Managing Editor – the regional figurehead and chief of the bureau. She will report to [SVP and CNNI general manager] Mike McCarthy. She will be supported in running our regional production center by a team of the existing staff – each of whom will bring leadership in their bespoke areas of expertise.”
Maddox also thanked O’Sullivan for his time at CNN, saying, “We want to thank Phil O’Sullivan once again for his leadership, hard work and dedication during his 14 years with CNN in Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi.”
