Starting next Monday, March 10th at 10pm, Making the Case with Sunny Hostin and Mark Geragos will make its debut. I don’t know any specific details at this time (I looked for a CNN press release, but as of yet, nothing), but I imagine it will be a legal “talk show,” with the two hosts offering their perspectives and talking to other attorneys.
Here is Hostin’s tweet confirming the show:
Just last night, I complained that CNN needed a live show at 10pm (mainly because I wanted live updates on the Ukraine crisis, not a repeat of Anderson Cooper’s earlier newscast). Whether or not this show will be live or taped remains to be seen; however, it will be something new, at any rate, so that will be a good thing.
My reactions to the show, however, are a bit mixed. Sunny Hostin is spectacular. I love watching her provide legal analysis, most frequently on CNN’s New Day, and occasionally on Legal View w/ Ashleigh Banfield. She knows her stuff and seems to be a good made-for-TV attorney. On the opposite side of the coin, Mark Geragos is something else. He’s annoying when he appears on Anderson Cooper 360 (and whatever other CNN show he appears on, I’m sure). He won’t listen to anyone else’s opinions and usually insults fellow panelists/hosts. He may provide to be an interesting host for Making the Case, but I’m personally not a fan.
A better co-host with Sunny Hostin, in my opinion, would be Mark O’Mara. Completely speculation on my part, but I imagine CNN asked him, and he declined. He is on Legal View constantly, so I can only hope CNN offered him the position and he didn’t accept, because he is a much better analyst than Mark Geragos.
Regardless… It’ll be a show worth checking into. Best of luck to the duo.
